Regular verbs are fantastic because they follow a strict, predictable pattern. They keep their verb stem exactly the same, and you just add the standard endings: -e, -st, -t, -en, -t, -en.

Tips:

  1. The t-insert Rule (*): Notice arbeiten and antworten. Because their stems end in -t (arbeit-), German adds an extra -e- before endings starting with -st or -t to make it easier to pronounce (e.g., du arbeitest, er arbeitet). You might want a little tool-tip or hover note for this on your site!

  2. The heißen Rule: Since heißen has an ß (ess-zett), you don't add an extra 's' for the du form. It's just du heißt.
